Another Bus Incident

It happened. Another bus incident happened this year. I say another because a couple of years ago Mary came home with a new 'friend'. It was the first week of school, of kindergarten, and they decided they would play together, so 'come on over!'. This little girl had no idea where she lived. I called the bus dispatch to come get this girl before her mother freaked out!

I got to freak out this year. The bus arrived at 3:52 on a hot Arizona afternoon. Mary and Katie quickly got off the bus and ran off the bus. I asked them, "Where is your brother? Where is Bobby" (yes, I had to ask both questions in case they were confused). "He wasn't on the bus." "He got distracted by Zach and I guess he missed the bus." "He said that you were going to pick us up, but I told him that you weren't, so he is probly waiting for you at school." You are kidding me!

I went back inside and called Zach's mom. She didn't answer and I left a half-hysterical message. I thought about it after I got off the phone, that she would never just take him. She would call and say she was picking him up. "Ok, get in the car, girls, we are going back to school." Can you believe that they asked me ,"Why?". "OHHHH, I don't know, to find your BROTHER!!!"

On the way to the school, I scanned the streets to see if he was walking home. There was no sign of him. I told myself I will not freak out. He is probly at school, waiting for me. I would keep it together. Well, I kept it together until I got to the school and asked if there was an extra kid around and they said "No".

They were so good to me. They were very calm and assured me that they would find him. After an announcement on the loud speaker, his teacher came running in and told us that she had sent him to the after school program, because that is where he said he was to go. They called over to the after care program and sure enough he was there. Thank the Lord.

As it turns out, Bobby just went along with what his teacher said, because Bobby is a very quiet kid. I asked him why he didn't tell anyone at the after care program and he just shrugged. I came to find out that they have a snack at the after care program! No wonder why he didn't complain! FOOD!
